Midtown is a buzzing urban district to the southwest of Downtown Nashville and The Gulch. This area of Music City is home to Vanderbilt University and offers lots of nighttime entertainment and youthful energy. Close to the university campus, sprawling Centennial Park is a relaxing green space with a scale replica of the Parthenon. Music Row is centered on 16th and 17th Avenue South at Midtown’s eastern edge. The heart of Nashville’s legendary music industry, Music Row has many record company offices, recording studios, and radio stations. It also offers lots of upscale shopping and dining.

Music Row and Midtown attract a diverse mix of residents. Music Row is in the heart of Music City’s recording industry, and the Hospital Corporation of America’s headquarters are located close to Centennial Park. Many students and faculty from Vanderbilt University live in the neighborhood and frequent its many nightlife spots.

Around Broadway and Division Street to the east of the Vanderbilt University campus, laid-back bars and restaurants are popular among the college crowd and Music Row professionals. Enjoy refreshing drinks and gourmet pub grub at The Red Door Saloon or join the music industry’s movers and shakers at relaxed Loser’s Bar & Grill. Tavern is a chef-driven gastropub with incredible cocktails and some of the best brunch plates in Nashville. The Ainsworth is a chic contemporary sports bar with a menu of elevated pub eats, such as gold-dusted chicken wings brined for 24 hours in coconut butter, chipotle, and honey then served with gourmet bleu cheese. At the northern end of Music Row, TailGate Brewing is a microbrewery with a beer garden offering 30 small-batch craft beers on draft.

RCA Studio B is one of Music Row’s most iconic recording studios. Guided tours are available of the facility, where Elvis Presley recorded more than 200 songs. Other stars that have recorded hits at RCA Studio B include The Everly Brothers, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Roy Orbison, The Strokes, and Dolly Parton. Tin Roof is a favorite hangout for those involved with Music Row’s recording industry. This lively bar offers creative American pub grub and regular live performances. Over on Elliston Place to the north of the Vanderbilt University campus in Midtown, Exit/In and The End have been two of Nashville’s most popular live music venues since the 1970s. Sprawling 132-acre Centennial Park is a beautiful Midtown green space. Its attractive landscape features a lake with fountains, a bandshell used for summer concerts, and a full-scale replica of the Parthenon built in 1897, cementing Nashville’s reputation as the Athens of the South.
