Hillsboro/West End

Welcome to Hillsboro/West End

Leafy neighborhoods with attractive homes and hip businesses

Nashville’s West End is a leafy neighborhood of well-appointed homes surrounding the expansive green space of Centennial Park. Hillsboro is a collegiate neighborhood that is continuous with the West End and often subdivided into the western section of Hillsboro-West End and the eastern Hillsboro-Belmont. The neighborhood is close to Belmont and Vanderbilt Universities and has a collegiate atmosphere with lots of trendy local businesses.
Hillsboro and West End offer many attractive historic homes on tree-lined streets close to plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, and independent retailers. Properties dating back to the 1920s give this area of Nashville an eclectic architectural mix. Popular styles in the area include bungalows, cottages, four-squares, and Tudors. There are also newer properties that blend in seamlessly with Hillsboro and West End’s elegant architectural aesthetic.

People & Lifestyle

Hillsboro and the West End combine upscale appeal with youthful energy. The West End is a refined residential neighborhood with attractive homes close to Centennial Park within easy reach of all of Downtown Nashville’s attractions and amenities. Between the campuses of Belmont and Vanderbilt Universities, Hillsboro Village is a lively commercial area with unique local businesses. A popular hangout for students from both universities, it also attracts residents from other Nashville areas. It’s not unusual to see stars from the county music scene and other famous figures browsing its boutiques or dining at its restaurants and cafés.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Hillsboro Village is a four-block stretch with laid-back cafés, trendy eateries, and stylish boutiques. The Pancake Pantry opened in 1961 and has been hugely popular ever since. This Hillsboro Village stalwart offers a huge selection of sweet and savory toppings for their signature buttermilk pancakes. Funky pet-themed coffeeshop Fido serves gourmet espresso drinks and special seasonal blends alongside tasty breakfast plates and lunchtime salads and sandwiches. The Hillsboro Village location of local Nashville chain Biscuit Love has a menu of classic Southern comfort eats. Cabana offers romantic private dining in curtained booths or on their outdoor patio. Their menu provides an upscale twist on Southern comfort classics, including crab hush puppies, lobster mac and cheese, and mouthwatering fried chicken. The neighborhood is also teeming with boutiques selling trendy apparel. Shop for hip womenswear at The Impeccable Pig, designer label menswear and womenswear at Posh, and edgy contemporary fashion at Revv. Hey Rooster General Store is a 21st-century update of a classic country store. This unique gift emporium is stocked with a wide variety of handmade local goods.

Things to Do

One of the best things about living in this part of Nashville is having Centennial Park right at your doorstep. This sprawling 132-acre green space features wide tree-flanked lawns, a scenic lake with fountains, and a stunning full-scale replica of the Parthenon built in the 1890s. The Belcourt Theater is a nonprofit cinema in Hillsboro Village that first opened in the 1920s. Briefly serving as the home of the Grand Ole Opry in the 1930s, it’s now an upscale movie theater screening new independent and documentary film releases alongside classic film screenings and filmmaker discussions. Visitors can enjoy movies at The Belcourt Theater with specialty baked goods and other snacks alongside wine and local craft beer. Just north of the Vanderbilt University campus, Elliston Place is often dubbed the Elliston Place Rock Block for its concentration of live music venues. Exit/In is an intimate venue that was featured in the 1975 film Nashville. Directly across the street from Exit/In, The End is one of the most raucous venues in Nashville for live rock band performances.

Hillsboro and the West End are served by the Davidson County School District.
