The streets surrounding this stretch of 12th Avenue South feature charming bungalows dating back to the early 20th century. 12 South is also home to the attractive green space of Sevier Park. Belmont is named after Belmont University. This neighborhood has a collegiate atmosphere with lots of independent businesses catering to a young adult clientele. Belmont’s housing mix is an eclectic array of classic architecture, with styles including bungalows, four-squares, and Tudor Revival single-family homes.

Both neighborhoods are conveniently close to downtown and The Gulch but have a laid-back vibe all of their own. Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon’s stylish clothing store Draper James is a must-visit for fashionistas. Discover classic American apparel with a twist of Southern charm before stopping by the iconic “I Believe in Nashville” mural on the store’s exterior to pose for a pic in your new attire. Other 12 South boutiques include inventive denimwear specialists Imogene + Willie and elevated casual womenswear store Emerson Grace. Belmont Boulevard winds through Hillsboro just two blocks west of 12 South. Here, you can grab freshly-made New York-style bagels at Proper Bagel or head to PM for Asian fusion fare and drinks served in a convivial atmosphere.
Sevier Park is an attractively-landscaped green space located at the southern end of the 12 South neighborhood. A gentle creek flows through the park, where the stately 1850's Sunnyside Mansion sits on its banks. Sevier Park also has playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, and a community center. 12 South Farmers Market takes place at Sevier Park on Tuesdays between May and October. During the summer, the 12 South Concert Series brings a diverse lineup of live music performances to Sevier Park. Sevier Park Fest takes place over the first weekend in May with live entertainment and lots of fun and family-friendly activities. Close to the Belmont University campus, guided tours are available at the beautiful mid-19th century Belmont Mansion. Other attractions close to the campus include Troutt Theater for theatrical performances and McAfee Concert Hall for classical music.
